How it works
From your first call to the judge’s signature
Every family case follows roughly the same five steps. Here is what each one asks of you.
- 01
Step 1: Call or write
Tell Maite in a few words what’s happening. She’ll find a time with Rogelio, at the office or by video.
- 02
Step 2: The first meeting
An hour with Rogelio. It has a set fee, which Maite tells you when you book.
- 03
Step 3: A plan and a fee, in writing
If you hire us, you get the steps, the papers we’ll need and the fee agreement to read at home before you sign.
- 04
Step 4: We file, you read first
Nothing goes to the court until you’ve read it, in English or in Spanish, and asked every question.
- 05
Step 5: Hearings and the final order
Rogelio prepares you for each hearing and stands beside you. You get a copy of every order the judge signs.
Bring these to the first meeting
Whatever you have is enough. We can find the rest together.
Court papers
Anything you’ve been served or mailed, even if it’s only the first page.
What you own and owe
A rough list: the house, vehicles, bank accounts, retirement and debts.
Your children’s weeks
School hours, activities and who takes care of them now.
Your questions
Write them down before you come. Most people forget half of them once they sit down.
Step one is telling Maite what’s going on
Call or write. Maite will find a time this week.
